September Devotion, Day 6

The Love of The Lord

“But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting
on those who fear Him,
and His righteousness to children’s children,
to those who keep His covenant and remember His precepts to do them.
The Lord has established His throne in the heavens,
and His  sovereignty rules over all.
Bless the Lord, you His angels, mighty in strength, who perform His word,
obeying the voice of His word!
Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you who serve Him, doing His will.”

Psalm 103:17-21

There are so many things that happen in our lives that cause us to question the love of those who are closest and most dear to us. We hurt each other even when we don’t intend to because we so often choose sin over obedience to God.

But the Lord’s love for us is perfect and cannot be tainted by sin. It is in the love of God that we can put our full trust and never have our hearts broken.  It is in His love that we find forgiveness for our own sins against God and receive the strength and even the desire to forgive those who have sinned again us.

God is faithful even when we are not faithful.  His love can bring healing to our broken hearts if we choose to love and obey Him by forgiving others as He has forgiven us.

Do you believe that God has forgiven you of your sins?  Do you truly believe that He loves you?  Has your heart been so broken by others that you think God may do the same to you?  I have found that reading the Bible daily has opened my eyes and my broken heart to the truth of God.  I have found in the Scriptures that He is not a man like you and I. He has not been overcome by sin as we have.  He is faithful and can be trusted with your heart.

Inspired to Cherish
Today let’s write out John 3:16-17 in our personal journals.  Now look up Numbers 23:19 and write this verse in your journal as well. Talk to God about your fears.  If you have a hard time trusting that He truly loves you and will never leave you nor forsake you, ask Him to help you let your guard down and trust Him.  If you are having a hard time forgiving someone who has hurt you when they should have loved you, ask God to help you forgive them today.

I believe that this is so important.  It is a command from God that we forgive those who sin against us.  It is not an option for believers to not forgive because Jesus died for our sins and forgave us of each and every sin we have ever committed against Him. Therefore, God has every right to command us to do the same.  We must obey and we must ask Him to help us to obey because sometimes forgiveness is not easy, believe me I know.

How To Pray For Children

Praying for guidance from God as a Mom is huge to me, I need all the help I can get.  When I don’t know exactly what to pray, I always turn to the Scriptures and just read them, write them, or pray them back to God.

My daily journals are literally filled to the brim with the handwritten Word of God.  I figure they are His Words so they are true and powerful, and I choose to trust that His Word will be done.

Here’s only one of the many beautiful prayers in the Bible.  This one was written by the Apostle Paul and it is perfect to pray over our children.

“… I bow my knees before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory,
to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;
and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints
what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge,
that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly
beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us,
to Him be the glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus
to all generations
forever and ever, Amen.”
