Inspired by Color

Banner3333333threehearts2In my post “Getting Inspired Artistically”I talked about what I do when I don’t know what to do to get inspired artistically and I showed you these colors that my son had photographed that really inspired me.

I laid items that I had in my art supplies out on my art table to inspire me to create something.  It worked so well that it kept me busy creating for a few days.  Let me share the three projects with you.

In the picture above from left to right, I wanted to create something on the canvas you see with the materials laid out in front of it.  It turned out like this…

"Wings & Wheels" inspired by Ezekiel's vision in Ezekiel 1

I absolutely love how this picture looks on my wall.  The colors are amazing and it continues to inspire me to be creative every time I walk by and see it.  The perfect place for it is on the wall above my art desk for sure!

Next I wanted to create some pendants using the teal and brown colored leather you can see in the picture, as well as the adorable heart and oval shaped metal pendants. They turned out so cute!

I  think these will be adorable on key chains or a necklace and they are so fun to make!

Finally, my third project was to make a sketch journal cover using my lovely house mixed media art  that I call “Cloudy Days”.  These come in three different sizes and although they are sketch journals, I use mine for notes and drawing and  I love it!

The smallest one is so cute at 4.5 x 6″.  It’s perfect to pack in a small purse.  The medium is 6 x 8.5 ” and this is the one I carry with me everywhere.  The largest one measure 6.75 x 10″ and is great for a backpack or a larger purse/bag.  Of course I add Scripture or something to inspire us to cherish the things of God above all else!

Well, there they are, all three projects inspired simply by checking out the Facebook of someone who has similar tastes to mine, then placing some materials on my art desk to catch my eye as I pass by.

“My sheep” have arrived!

Well, after a long and much needed break to end our 18th year of homeschooling…  (WOW! where has the time gone?), I have picked up my paint brush again and decided to try my hand at mixed media.  After taking a class with Cathy Bluteau and learning how to make some whimsical houses, I made a few journals and canvas pictures and they turned out really cute.

But as I began my art journal titled “Waiting For Jesus, 2015” while taking an on-line class with Donna Downey, “Inspirational Wednesday”, I made a page that turned out so cute, I just had to make a journal and two cute little canvas paintings as well.

I will be attending a workshop this weekend to learn from a wonderful Christian artist, whose art I have enjoyed over the past couple of years.  I am extremely excited to attend the workshop and will be following up with a blog post as soon as I return early next week.

Leave a comment and let me know what you think.  I love hearing from you and hope that you stop by often through the summer months.  I plan to let my imagination flow with praise for our Awesome God and all He has done for us in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Blessings for a wonderful and peaceful SimplyLiving summer!

A New Bible Study!

I’m so excited today as I work on my newest Bible Study called “December Love”.  It will not be a whole month’s study like “November Thankfulness” was, but it will still be a thorough study that will be perfect for the busi-ness of the holidays.  Both can be downloaded for free just for you in the right side bar ——->

Many of you have expressed your interest in my next study, so please take time to pray for me, as God guides me in the perfect watercolor illustrations to go along with “December Love”.  I’m so excited to be able to write another study for you!

Thank you for taking the time to request and study “November Thankfulness”.  You can’t even know how much your encouragement means to me.  I pray God blesses you in the way you have blessed me.

Raindrops & Words

It’s a beautiful rainy day today.  Steady, big, drenching raindrops have been falling all through the night.  Pounding out a rhythmic sound on the roof and in my head while I slept very well – surprisingly.  After a long, hot summer, it feels as if each drop is watering my very soul… like each one is preparing me for something.

This morning as I sat down to write out Scripture and my prayers to my Lord, the rain reminded me of my two most favorite verses in the Bible:

Blinkin Squiggle

“For the ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God;”  -Hebrews 6:7

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;…” – Isaiah 55:10

Every time I read Hebrews 6:7, I pray that God will make me like the ground.  I want to drink the rain which often falls on me.  I want it to bring forth fruit in my life that is useful to those who spend time with me.  Those who want to dig deep and really know me.  As a wife and mom, I think of my Hon- and my kids.  When they are with me, I want them to benefit from me – like a harvest for them from God.

In these two verses I see that the rain often falls on the ground and in the form of both rain and snow it comes down from heaven.  It is coming from God, from His place in heaven – He is sending it down to us here on earth.  And He has sent it with a purpose:

Isaiah says that it does not return to heaven without first watering the earth and making it bear and sprout and furnish seed for us! This is so beautiful!  Thank You Father for the rain – You are so good to us!

🙂 There is so much in Isaiah 55 – I always read the whole thing for good measure 🙂

I’m so thankful this morning as I read a little further in Isaiah 55:11 – God is not really talking about the rain.  He is talking about His Word.

“So will My Word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”  -Isaiah 55:11

Blinkin Squiggle

WOW!  I wonder…  What will I worry about today?  There are so many things going on all over the world.  How will it affect me?  Will it take my eyes off the One who orchestrates it all? The One who ordains each raindrop and sends His Word forth which cannot be stopped and will be accomplished on this earth?  O Lord, keep my eyes on You today.

Here’s a picture of my homestead in the winter of 2013 – when God sent down the rain and the snow together 🙂  O Happy Rainy Day!
