September Devotion, Day 1

Praise His Glorious Name!

“…Blessed are You, O Lord God of Israel our Father, forever and ever.
Yours, O Lord, is
the greatness
and the power
and the glory
and the victory
and the majesty,
indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth;
Yours is the dominion,
O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.
Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all,
and in Your hand is power and might;
and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.
Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.”

1 Chronicles 29:10-13

I still remember the first time I really cut loose and praised God.  It was late, well after everyone in the house had gone to bed.  I had been reading my Bible and had spent some time in prayer.  But suddenly something welled up inside of me and I had so much love and gratitude just wanting to burst out and show Him how thankful I was that He had saved my soul.

I remember as I got up from my chair and quietly stood in the middle of the living room in the dark.  I just stood there for what seemed like the longest time.  I don’t know why I was so self conscious, there was no one around.  Just me and God.  Then, slowly, I raised my hands, just a little at first, but then I fully stretched my arms out to Heaven, and started to praise His glorious name, speaking words that came pouring out, deep from within my heart.  It felt amazing!  I felt so vulnerable, yet so free, so forgiven, so loved, so in touch and enveloped by God Himself.  He was hearing me and seeing me and loving me.

His Word says He inhabits the praises of His people and I experienced it on this day, and now I know this to be true.

Do you remember a time when you longed to worship the Lord because of all He is and all He has done for you?  How did you respond?  What is your favorite way to worship Him?  I would love to hear from you in the “comment” section below.

Inspired to Cherish
We  all have twenty-four hours on this first day of September.  I’m going to take at least one of my hours and write out Psalm 150 in a special journal.  Will you join me? Remember to write it slowly, taking in each word and writing in your very best hand.

Blinkin Squiggle

I would love to spend time in prayer and meditation with you.  Let’s imagine God in His sanctuary.  Think about all the things He has done for us.  As we feel the thankfulness and gratitude well up inside, let’s try a new form of worship; sing a new song, dance before the Lord as David did, or maybe lift our hands and praise His glorious name.  You might even want to do all three!  See yourself praising Him before His throne in Heaven.  Let go.  Cut loose and let your whole self – body, soul and spirit, praise God.

He is worthy to be praised!

Prayer and Fasting for Ukraine

Banner3333333

Urgent prayer and fasting request from our Dear Suko Family Missionaries in the Ukraine.

It Only Gets Worse!
Unfortunately things didn’t get better for Ukraine, they only got worse! It started with Russia’s annexation of Crimea, then with the taking of key cities in Eastern Ukraine and it continues with an all out war for control of the Donbas area of Ukraine.

Yesterday after weeks of intense fighting the Ukrainian army withdrew its forces from the strategic town of Debaltseve, giving over another key city to the Russian back forces.

The blow to Ukraine is heavy, the outlook is grim, the people are angered, disillusioned and desperate!

Is there hope for Ukrainians?

I believe there is and tomorrow I will share with you in detail about that hope.

In the mean time I want to ask you to do the same thing I asked one year ago.

Please fast and pray for Ukraine!

Christina and I will be fasting and praying on Saturday and we invite you to join us.

You can read the entire article at the Suko Family Blog.

Please consider joining me on February 21, 2015, as I pray and fast with Caleb and Christina Suko.  Together we can come before the throne of God on behalf of the Ukrainian people.

The Third Week of Advent

Yesterday, was the beginning of the third week of Advent.  This week our family has chosen to do our Advent on Thursday when our family will be all together.  We will be lighting our third candle, the shepherd’s candle, which is pink in color and represents God’s love and faithfulness to us.

The suggested Bible reading from “Celebrating A Christ-Centered Christmas” is:

Blinkin Squiggle

“How lovely on the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who announces peace
And brings good news of happiness,
Who announces salvation,
and says to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
Isaiah 52:7

and

“In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.  And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.
But the angel said to them,

“Do not be afraid;
for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;
for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior,
who is Christ the Lord.
This will be a sign for you:
you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:8-12

There are only ten days left until Christmas!  I pray that peace and happiness rest on your family and that the Salvation of God is alive in your heart.  Your God reigns!

Merry Christmas!

Pardon & Peace

Do you ever wonder how you can deepen your relationship with God?  Or maybe you just want to know Him, or maybe get a better glimpse of exactly what Jesus Christ did on the cross.  A few years back I was leading an inductive Bible study through the Book of Romans.  Our class was moving along seemingly without any complications until we hit Chapters 5, 6 & 7.  Then we came to an abrupt stop.  Suddenly, we found ourselves in deep waters.

We had been through many Bible studies together as a group and something was happening that had never happened before.  As we sought God in prayer, I began to sense that we needed to slow down and not rush our way through.  But I was wrong.  We were being stopped completely!  We couldn’t move forward – God had something to teach us, or maybe just me.

As I said, that was several years ago.  Oh, how I wish I could go back to that group of Bible believing, God fearing studiers of God’s Word!  But I would not go back,  even if I were given the chance, because what God showed me in His Word as a result of stopping completely, gave me a pardon and peace I did not know before.

pardon

At this point, you may ask me to tell you what God began to show me in the Book of Romans, but I can’t.  I have tried so many times to put it into words, and the best I can do is tell you to do as I did.  Spend time reading, re-reading, and re-reading Romans 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7 over and over again.  Ask God to reveal Truth to you by His Holy Spirit.  Do whatever it takes to get a teaching of Romans from God, no matter what.

Blinkin Squiggle

If you aren’t saved, come humbly to God and repent and ask Him to save you by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.  If you have salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, then come boldly to His throne until He has shown you the amazing Truths in Romans.

I have heard that Romans is the foundation of the Christian faith.  If that’s true and I believe it is, then take time to study it and not just the first seven chapters, read it all over and over again.  It’s worth it!

Merry Christmas!
