“Urim & Thummim”

threehearts2As you probably know by now, I have been reading through the Bible chronologically with BRT2015 and Keith Ferrin.  As I read Exodus 31, I had to stop and pray!  O how I long to be:

“…filled with the Spirit of God in wisdom,

in understanding,

in knowledge,

and in all kinds of craftsmanship

to make artistic designs…”

Exodus 31: 3-4

As I read through Exodus 27 and 28 I couldn’t help myself, I just had to paint what was in my head.  I call it “Urim & Thummim”.

I know the colors are not specific to the verses.  Maybe I will paint another one with the colors mentioned.

I love to read the Scriptures and search for the beautiful “treasure” verses that pop out and give me a vision in my mind.  Those ones that describe just what I’m feeling and describe just what God is pleased with.  As we surrender our lives to Christ Jesus, He gives us special work to do and He equips us with the means to do them.

I would love to hear what your special work is.  How has God gifted you to encourage and bless the Body of Christ?

“December Love” Has Begun!!

It has begun!!  My “December Love” has finally begun and I honestly cannot believe it!!
It was taking me F O R E V E R to come up with an illustration and then I couldn’t figure out where I wanted to start the Bible study, but now after much sweat and tears, it’s beginning to emerge and I’m so excited!

You can see the meager beginnings on it’s own page above.

Well, that’s all I had to say – I just wanted to give you some hope 🙂

I pray this finds you happy and truly enjoying this time of year that we celebrate Jesus’ Birth.

Tonight is the second Sunday of Advent and we are waiting for our oldest daughter to get off work so we can all celebrate together. I’m especially looking forward to the fourth Sunday of Advent because my oldest son will be home from college!

Blessings to you and your families!

UPDATE:  “December Love” and “November Thankfulness” can be found in the right side bar ——–> free just for you!

Cannon Beach, Oregon

If you have spent time on this blog, you probably already know that our family loves Cannon Beach, Oregon.  It is a very special place on God’s amazing earth and many people travel from all over to spend a day or two, a week, or even a whole summer there.  “What is the attraction?”, you may ask.  Well, if you have never been, you may never know.  I truly believe that all the words and pictures of Cannon Beach gathered together in one place could still not give you insight to what the attraction of this beautiful place of God is.  You simply must experience it for yourself in order to know.

The youngest of my two sons, loves to take pictures of the waves at Cannon Beach.  He gets the camera dangerously close, most of the time.  But the pictures that I have to share on my blog make the whole ordeal of me screaming on the beach well worth it! Can you see the beautiful mountains in the background?  They have sharper peaks than we are use to seeing here in the Puget Sound and it seems that the trees are shorter and more bushier.  It makes the mountains look green and fuzzy.  Every plant that you see in the small town of Cannon Beach looks extremely healthy. Maybe because of the salty air from the ocean.

Beautiful places like Cannon Beach remind me of God’s Word. You cannot experience the deep beauty of them without going there yourself. God is the Creator of the universe and He created these beautiful places for us to experience a relationship with Him. It’s not a place to worship His creation, but to worship the only One and True Living God who created it all.

“For since the creation of the world
His invisible attributes,
His eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly seen,
being understood through what has been made,
so that they are without excuse.”

                                                                                                                      -Romans 1:20

As I get older, I find myself drawn more and more to places like Cannon Beach. I think it’s because my longing for Heaven is increasing and Cannon Beach is like a glimpse of Heaven on earth. It’s a place where I feel closer to my Creator, away from all the hustle and bustle of the city life. Back to the basics, back to the sand and the waves, back to His people, who seem for a moment to have laid aside their differences and have come to enjoy God and fellowship with each other. It is a place where we can focus on truly loving God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind and loving others as ourselves.  It is a place to worship the God of Heaven and Earth, our Maker.

Do you have a favorite place you like to go?  Is it to the beach or would you rather stay inland?  Is it far from your home?  Busy or relaxed?  I would love to hear where your family likes to hang out and why you like to go there. Leave a comment below and let me know 🙂

Happy Worshiping!

The Joy of Writing

So on October 9, 2014, I got an idea for a book.  Well, kind of – it’s not really just a book, but many Bible studies; As a matter of fact, one for each month of the year.

I was so excited when the thought came to me that I jotted down a whole bunch of ideas for what they would look like, and different title ideas for each of the months, as well as the layout; etc.  I even drew some illustrations for the first one, which would be for the month of November and watercolor painted them right then and there.

Honestly, I was very surprised how it all just seemed to pour right out of me.  But then again, I thought it might just be another one of those great ideas I get ever-so-often that goes into my journal, but nowhere else. 🙂

Not so this time!  Tomorrow will be November 16 and guess what?  Yep!  I have completed 16 whole days of this Bible study that I have titled “November Thankfulness”!  Seriously, I am writing and illustrating a book!  My very first book!  I am praising God for His miracles!

Blinkin Squiggle

You may be thinking, sheesh!  What’s the big deal?  But it is a very big deal, because not only am I writing this book, but I am doing the study as I go and I am seeing again the amazingness of God’s Holy Word and becoming thankful yet again for His amazing Grace, multiple Blessings, and His Redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ!

I am seeing again the hugeness of studying (in a copious amount daily) all that He has done for us.  If you are in need of a Bible study and would like to study “November Thankfulness”, it’s free right here on this blog, written with you in mind and free for you in the right side bar —–>

Leave a comment.  I would absolutely love to hear from you.  Have you written a book? Did you enjoy the process?  Did it come easily or was it a struggle?  Have you had an idea for a book, but have hidden it away in a journal?  Why not take it out and write it!

Happy Bible studying!

The Unfolding Of God’s Words

In my journal the other morning, I wrote the following verses in Psalm 119 and I broke down what each one had to say about God and about those who love Him. Then I prayed that God would make what these verses say, true of me.  This copious amount of time with God made for such a wonderful day, I really want to share it with you.

Blinkin Squiggle

To truly love God’s Word and take time to write it out, then meditate and contemplate on all that His Precepts say is a blessing just waiting for us to discover.

These particular verses are especially wonderful because they refer to God’s Word in many different ways.  And in each way the psalmist is declaring his love and reverence for God and His Commandments.  He is desiring above all else for his love and regard for God’s Law to be blessed.  He is trying to express how he loves God’s wonderful Testimonies.

I spent time on this particular morning pouring over these verses until I could relate with the psalmist, longing for God to know how I love and fear His Statutes.  To let Him know how I need His Word everyday in my life.  It is truly our Daily Bread.

Psalm 119:127-136

Therefore I love Your commandments
Above gold, yes, above fine gold.
Therefore I esteem right all Your precepts concerning everything,
I hate every false way.
Your testimonies are wonderful;
Therefore my soul observes them.
The unfolding of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple.
I opened my mouth wide and panted,
For I longed for Your commandments.
Turn to me and be gracious to me,
After Your manner with those who love Your name.
Establish my footsteps in Your word,
And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.
Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts.
Make Your face shine upon Your servant,
And teach me Your statutes.
My eyes shed streams of water,
Because they do not keep Your law.

How do you spend your time with God?  Do you find the unfolding of His Word makes for a beautiful day?  I would love to hear from you!

Happy Day!
