Prayers of Blessing

The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face to shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.”

Numbers 6:24-26

Blinkin Squiggle

This is the prayer that Aaron and his sons were to bless the sons of Israel with.  When I find a prayer of blessing in the Bible that really stands out to me and that I can feel myself praying for others, I tend to begin using it in my daily prayer time for my family and friends.  I also tend to pray that prayer for so long that it becomes a part of my life – it just automatically comes out of me any time prayer is needed.  In my prayer journals, as I re-read, I often find the same prayer being prayed day after day, over a long period of time and it still means so much to me.

For years, I have prayed for God to raise our family up to be mighty men and women of God, and to raise up Godly spouses for each of our children.  I pray that we would be blessed and have His peace every time we lay our heads down to sleep.  I prayed that our bodies would be healed if we needed it and that we would hunger and thirst for His Living Word, reading it daily and obeying it.

For years, I have prayed over those who leave our home to go to their home, or to work, or run errands, or just to play;  I pray Lord, please surround them with angels and take them safely to their destination and back again.  Please give them wisdom, understanding and knowledge for their jobs, and discernment for the times we live in. Please give them favor with You and with those whom they come in contact with today. Please help them to be bold to share the Gospel of Jesus with anyone You lead them to.

For the past several years, I have prayed similar to what is often called “The Prayer of Jabez”.  I love the words in this prayer, and they are wonderful to pray for those I love and hold dear to me.  I take these words before the throne of God in all sincerity of my heart. That our family and friends would be blessed indeed and that our territory would be enlarged. That God would keep His hand upon each of us and the enemy far from us. That He would make us a blessing to the world and to glorify Jesus in all we do.

Do you have a special prayer for you, your family and friends that really resonates with you?  Do you pray for missionaries and pastors and others who take the Gospel out to huge portions of the world?  Having a specific prayer in mind that we would pray for anyone, may give us a sort of foundation to begin building upon and encourage us to pray daily or in a specific moment of time, always allowing the Spirit of God to lead. Our prayers of blessing matter to God and to those we pray for.

Inspired to Cherish
Isaiah 55 has been one of my most favored chapters in the Bible since I became a Christian over 20 years ago.  I have memorized verses 6-13 in the past, but as I read through this chapter now, I can see I need to refresh!  Let’s read Isaiah 55 out loud today.  Read it boldly, as if all the people of the world are listening.  Don’t read it silently, let it out!

Now let’s write out Isaiah 55:6-13 or just write the whole chapter if you feel led to do so.  Blinkin Squiggle

Isaiah 55 is a beautiful chapter and I get especially excited when I read, “For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and (imagine this) all the trees will clap their hands”.  Oh my goodness!!!!!  This is when I decide to use a specific prayer – when I feel it in my soul – so that the prayer means something from me to God for someone else!!!  Make sure you FEEL it!

With Jesus’ Sweet Love,

Prayer and Fasting for Ukraine

Urgent prayer and fasting request from our Dear Suko Family Missionaries in the Ukraine.

It Only Gets Worse!
Unfortunately things didn’t get better for Ukraine, they only got worse! It started with Russia’s annexation of Crimea, then with the taking of key cities in Eastern Ukraine and it continues with an all out war for control of the Donbas area of Ukraine.

Yesterday after weeks of intense fighting the Ukrainian army withdrew its forces from the strategic town of Debaltseve, giving over another key city to the Russian back forces.

The blow to Ukraine is heavy, the outlook is grim, the people are angered, disillusioned and desperate!

Is there hope for Ukrainians?

I believe there is and tomorrow I will share with you in detail about that hope.

In the mean time I want to ask you to do the same thing I asked one year ago.

Please fast and pray for Ukraine!

Christina and I will be fasting and praying on Saturday and we invite you to join us.

You can read the entire article at the Suko Family Blog.

Please consider joining me on February 21, 2015, as I pray and fast with Caleb and Christina Suko.  Together we can come before the throne of God on behalf of the Ukrainian people.

Blessed Are You!

Banner3333333threehearts2As we near the end of 2014, I want to share a blessing for you from the Scriptures. Listen closely to the tender heart of our Loving God through the voice of His Son Jesus Christ.  What Love the Father bestows on you!

Blinkin Squiggle“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great;
for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

Matthew 5:3-12

I pray that you are truly blessed no matter your situation as we end the year of 2014. This world can be so hard, but as we purpose to fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, on His Kingdom and on His righteousness, we will find in Him all we truly need, including a peace that surpasses all understanding and a rest that we can find nowhere in this world.

How Important is Faith for 2015?

Blinkin Squiggle

“For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, And will not delay.
But my righteous one shall live by faith;
And if he shrinks back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.
But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction,
but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.”
Hebrews 10:37-39

“Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him;
But the righteous will live by faith.”
Habakkuk 2:4

Blinkin Squiggle

Father, help me to live by faith and not by sight.  Help me to be humble and not full of pride.  You have proven Yourself to me so many times in so many amazing ways, how can I ever doubt You?  How can I live any other way, but by faith in Your Son Jesus Christ, my Lord, my God, my Savior?

So I say with Paul:

“I have been crucified with Christ;
and it is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me;
and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
Galatians 2:20

Please pray for me as I bring “December Love” to a close and begin a new Bible study for January 2015.

Happy New Year to you!

55 To Save A Life

The New Bible Study, “December Love” Can Be Found In The Right Side Bar ——>

Isaiah 55 is one of my most favorite chapters in the Bible.  As a matter of fact, my husband and I named our third child after his favorite book, Matthew, and my favorite book, Isaiah.  There are so many wonderful verses in this chapter and many of them I have memorized – maybe even the whole chapter.  They come to mind all the time, in almost every situation.

Tonight I was thinking of a friend who is not a Christian.  It’s her decision.  She has listened patiently to what Jesus has done for her.  But she has gently told me that she simply does not believe like I do.  She said she does not know where she will go when she dies, and she chooses to not believe the Words of God in this matter.

I am not an evangelist, as some would say, but I am a praying person!  Since her birthday is this month, she has been on my mind a lot and Isaiah 55:6-9 seemed like a perfect birthday prayer to pray for her.

Blinkin Squiggle

“Seek the LORD while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts;

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.”
Blinkin Squiggle

Do you have friends and family that you need to continue praying for?  I hope this passage in the Word of God will encourage you to keep on and not cease praying.  I have so many people in my life that I thought would NEVER come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, that now call Him Lord.

In my life there were many who thought I WOULD NEVER know Him.  After 30 years of walking in my own dark place, there were many who thought it could never happen.  But here I am praising my Lord Jesus and sharing His precious Words with you.  Thank you so much for stopping by, I would love to hear from you!

Happy Praying!

Paul’s Prayer

“November Thankfulness” is finished!

For the fourth and last section of my “November Thankfulness” Bible study, we are studying prayer.  In this study we will be covering a prayer that Paul prayed for the brethren in Ephesus in the Book of Ephesians 1:15-19.

I love this prayer.  It is a perfect prayer to pray over someone you may know that longs to understand God’s Word.  I pray this prayer over my four children and for my husband and myself.  We can never get to the depth of knowledge of the amazing Words of God.  There’s just so much – but O the blessings if we try!

Blinkin Squiggle

“For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you and your love for all the saints,
do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers;
that the God of the our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of glory,
may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened,
so that you will know what is the hope of His calling,
what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. …”

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Did you know there is only one Psalm that is called “A Psalm for Thanksgiving”?  And what a perfect Thanksgiving Day prayer it is.  Take time to read this beautiful Psalm and be truly thankful this Thanksgiving and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family on this beautiful day that the Lord has made.

“Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.
Serve the LORD with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
Know that the LORD Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Blinkin SquiggleEnter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
For the LORD is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His faithfulness to all generations.”

                                                                                                                                   Psalm 100

My prayer for you and your family today is that you will be found truly joyful, glad, thankful and singing praise unto our LORD for He Himself is a good God and we are the sheep of His pasture.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

How To Pray For Children

Praying for guidance from God as a Mom is huge to me, I need all the help I can get.  When I don’t know exactly what to pray, I always turn to the Scriptures and just read them, write them, or pray them back to God.

My daily journals are literally filled to the brim with the handwritten Word of God.  I figure they are His Words so they are true and powerful, and I choose to trust that His Word will be done.

Here’s only one of the many beautiful prayers in the Bible.  This one was written by the Apostle Paul and it is perfect to pray over our children.

Blinkin Squiggle

“… I bow my knees before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory,
to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;
and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints
what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge,
that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly
beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us,
to Him be the glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus
to all generations
forever and ever, Amen.”

                                                                                                        -Ephesians 3:14-21

A Prayer From The Proverbs

Blinkin Squiggle

“My son, attend to my words;
Incline thine ear unto my sayings.
Let them not depart from thine eyes;
keep them in the midst of thy heart.
For they are life unto those that find them,
and health to all their flesh.
Keep thy heart with all diligence;
For out of it are the issues of life.
Put away from thee a wayward mouth,
and perverse lips put far from thee.
Let thine eyes look right on,
and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
Make level the path of thy feet,
and let all thy ways be established.
Turn not to the right hand nor to the left;
Remove thy foot from evil.”

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       -Proverbs 4:20-27

Blinkin Squiggle

Father, I absolutely love, and hunger, and thirst for Your amazing Word! These verses are full of warning and wisdom to all who love you and are called by Your Name.

It feels like I am drinking a much needed glass of icy cold water while standing in a desert place.  How refreshing, how comforting, how perfect are these words for me right now. They are truly life unto my bones, and health to my flesh, and discernment for my tongue.

My eyes are looking right on; my eyelids are looking straight before me. My path is level; my ways are established by You, and I will not turn to the right hand nor to the left.  My feet are shod with the Gospel of peace.  Amen.

Many Blessings!

The Power of Prayer

I am a praying person – I pray diligently for my family and I take my time with God very seriously on their behalf.  Sometimes I send up prayers of blessing, other times I am in prayer and supplication – communing with the Lord until I have His peace. Then there are those hours of prayer where I am pleading desperately because I don’t know what else to do.

In all these circumstances, God has been with me and has heard my every word.  As I’m thinking about it now, I’m no longer concerned about how God answers my prayer – just that He hears me and that I know it by His still, small voice that gives me such peace.  I’m learning to fully trust Him to take care of the rest in His perfect way.

Blinkin Squiggle

Today I want to share a prayer that I pray over my husband daily.  Although it may change slightly depending on what is going on in his life – these are the basics of the prayer.  I am so thankful for him!  I want to be the blessed wife that he deserves.  I want to be a blessing to him; he has been such an amazing blessing to me and our family.

I want to be like King Ahasuerus in the book of Esther when he realizes what a blessing Mordecai has been to him.  He wants to lavish blessings upon him and tell all the people how wonderful he is.  Although I am not an earthly king, I am a child of the King of kings and the Lord of lords.   So I pray to the King on behalf of my husband.

You get the picture… but, if by chance you have never heard this amazing story, you can find it in God’s Word, in the Book of Esther, the 6th chapter – I recommend reading the whole book for good measure.

Maybe you can use the following prayer as a sample of how you might pray for your husband, wife, or other faithful people in your life.

Blinkin Squiggle

Prayer for A Husband

Father,  I lift up my husband to You.  Please surround him with Your angels that watch over those who will inherit the Kingdom of God.   He loves You and has placed his faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ.  He desires Your will for his life.  What a wonderful man of God he has been for our family.  He is steadfast and faithful at home, at work, and within our church.

Father, please consider my husband on this wonderful day and bless him with an extra measure of faith in Your Word.  Give him vision that he might not perish.  Give him sound mind, love, and no fear.  Give him a humble heart.  Give him a heart of solid, sure, trust in You as his Provider and Protector.

Lord, Please heal his body and keep him strong and active.  Give him a desire to eat Your good food and a desire to exercise daily so he can enjoy Your beauty out of the office walls.

Lord, please help him to sense Your pleasure in him and see Your favor upon him.  Give him a hope everlasting.  May he be protected and safe from the enemy within and without. Fix his eyes on Jesus, Your Kingdom and Your Righteousness and give him fresh opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Please bless him on this fine day as we give You praise! Amen.
