Job, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus – Oh My!

Banner3333333threehearts2As most of you know (and maybe some of you have even joined me), I have been reading through the Bible in four months, chronologically.  I started on January 1, with Keith Ferrin and his group on Facebook called BRT2015 and wanted to catch you up on how that has been going.

I have read Job, Genesis, Exodus and I finished up Leviticus last night and read Numbers 1-7 this morning!  I know that sounds like a lot of reading. and it is, but daily God’s Word has been holding me like an anchor and there have been many things that have stood out to me, even though this is my 8th time of reading the Bible completely through.  Some things that stood out to me last night and this morning were:

Lev 26:44 – The faithfulness of God to NEVER reject or destroy or break His covenant with Israel is so comforting to me as one who has been grafted in! I’m so thankful that we are all brought to God through faith in Jesus Christ, even His original chosen ones – Romans 11

Num 2:3 – the camp of Judah camped on the east side toward the sunrise. The tribe Jesus came from 🙂

Num 3:12, 41, 45 all say that the Levites replaced the firstborn of Israel and not only the men, but also the cattle of the Levites replaced the firstborn cattle of Israel. I can’t help but feel that if God says this three times, there must be more to study here – is it due to their sin???

Num 5 – strikes the fear of God in me once again! Adultery!! But the thing that really stood out is that the husband may just become jealous even if the wife is innocent – it’s not as if he is being told by God that she is being unfaithful, it’s just up to how he may feel…

Num 6:2 says, “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When a man or woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to dedicate himself to the LORD,…” How have I missed this? I never knew a woman could take the vow of a Nazirite, or is this referring to a mother who is giving her young son to become a Nazirite? As it goes on to give the description, it does not seem to be speaking to a woman???

You might be wondering how reading through the Bible in four months is considered SimplyLiving, but it’s not about the struggle or challenge of it.  It’s about what happens when we spend a copious amount of time in the Word of God on a daily basis.  The Word of God searches us and corrects us.  It cleanses us and equips us for a good work that God wants us to do.

Commitment to doing the difficult thing brings about simplicity of life because it makes us right with God if we are willing to obey Him.  It doesn’t take away the hard times, but it equips us to deal with the hard times with a hope and a peace that can only come from knowing God and His Son Jesus Christ.

Keep in mind that this Bible study will be only 15 days longs since December is such a busy month for a lot of us.
Sometimes adding one more thing, can make our time of celebrating Jesus’ Beautiful Birth, a time of overwhelming misery – and we don’t want that to happen.
However, since the Word of God should come first no matter how many things we have to do,
here it is just for you!
Merry Christmas!

“December Love” Has Begun!!

It has begun!!  My “December Love” has finally begun and I honestly cannot believe it!!
It was taking me F O R E V E R to come up with an illustration and then I couldn’t figure out where I wanted to start the Bible study, but now after much sweat and tears, it’s beginning to emerge and I’m so excited!

You can see the meager beginnings on it’s own page above.

Blessings to you and your families!

Many of you have expressed your interest in my next study, so please take time to pray for me, as God guides me in the perfect watercolor illustrations to go along with “December Love”.  I’m so excited to be able to write another study for you!

The Joy of Writing

Banner3333333

So on October 9, 2014, I got an idea for a book.  Well, kind of – it’s not really just a book, but many Bible studies; As a matter of fact, one for each month of the year.

I was so excited when the thought came to me that I jotted down a whole bunch of ideas for what they would look like, and different title ideas for each of the months, as well as the layout; etc.  I even drew some illustrations for the first one, which would be for the month of November and watercolor painted them right then and there.

Honestly, I was very surprised how it all just seemed to pour right out of me.  But then again, I thought it might just be another one of those great ideas I get ever-so-often that goes into my journal, but nowhere else. 🙂

Not so this time!  Tomorrow will be November 16 and guess what?  Yep!  I have completed 16 whole days of this Bible study that I have titled “November Thankfulness”!  Seriously, I am writing and illustrating a book!  My very first book!  I am praising God for His miracles!

Blinkin Squiggle

You may be thinking, sheesh!  What’s the big deal?  But it is a very big deal, because not only am I writing this book, but I am doing the study as I go and I am seeing again the amazingness of God’s Holy Word and becoming thankful yet again for His amazing Grace, multiple Blessings, and His Redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ!

I am seeing again the hugeness of studying (in a copious amount daily) all that He has done for us.  If you are in need of a Bible study and would like to study “November Thankfulness”, it’s free right here on this blog, written with you in mind and free for you in the right side bar —–>

Leave a comment.  I would absolutely love to hear from you.  Have you written a book? Did you enjoy the process?  Did it come easily or was it a struggle?  Have you had an idea for a book, but have hidden it away in a journal?  Why not take it out and write it!

Happy Bible studying!

Truly Thankful!

Here I am sick with what started as a head cold that has now traveled down to my throat and my chest – so I’m coughing away, ugh!  I praise God once again for hot Chamomile tea and wonderful raw organic honey from a local beekeeper.

But as I look out my window on this amazing October day, all my woes seem to disappear. My Hon- is playing beautiful music on the piano and my eyes are quickly mesmerized by the golden strands of decorative wheat and the sight of my beautiful maple tree in all its brilliant autumn colors.

It is so quietly nestled among the other maples with a glorious two acres of bright green, rolling grass and the towering hedge of protective evergreens round about.  They are all so green due to the wonderful rains that have recently begun.  It’s this beautiful sight that makes the Pacific Northwest a desired place to live.  I love it when God waters our land for us – it doesn’t cost a penny.  It reminds me of the verse that says,

Blinkin Squiggle

“…It is done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost.”
                                                                                                                                         Revelation 21:6

I’m so excited to show you my new creation!  As autumn has crept up on us – and God has been slowly changing the colors of the leaves to brilliant golds, burnt oranges, and beautiful, deep, dark reds…  He has also been doing a little brilliant work through my fingertips!

Connie'sQuote

I have never written a quote of my own before, so I thought I’d give it a try.  Do you like it? It makes me laugh.  My oldest daughter said it was “sketch” – still, I’m kind of proud. 🙂 If you like it and you want to share my quote, I don’t mind – just be sure to put “Constance of Olalla” under it 🙂  Thank you!
